May
May 5th the youth group held a Youth Service on Sunday evening. This was something of a first, with the youth also serving refreshments after the service. Miah Polucha from Hamilton was the guest speaker. The youth gathered together to practice the songs, and have a bit of singing together.

June
June 3rd (Queen's birthday), the youth met together for basketball and swimming at Youth Town.

August
August 24th most of the youth went to Waiwera on (a few backed out, one because it looked like rain and they didn't want to get wet???)

September
September 21st we embarked on The Great Huia Burger Challange (similar to last year's Great Huia Challange, but better). This time there were 9 different challanges after which we cooked and ate hamburgers and other delacacies. This year the boys took the overall winning prize.

October
October was the Snapshot
event (slightly delayed till 3rd November due to Wayne getting
the date confused with the time)
Divided into 2 teams, each team was given a
list of events or sights they had to photograph. The boys team
had a video camera while the (mostly) girls team had a digital
camera. The teams were given
90 minutes to complete the event and return to the church for a
shared snack...

Many thanks to the residents of New Lynn who allowed us to photograph or film them and still smiled.
November
November 24th was a Progressive
Pizza night.
Pizza boxes were picked up when we met at the church, then we
drove (it was NOT a race) to each place. Base's were thrown in at
the Wessels, with sauce spread (and in some cases polished) on
top at the next pit-stop. Then driving (not racing) over to the
Stotts for a selection of three different meats, and of course
the lovely veggie selection from the Thompsons. It was explained
again, this is not a race. L&R Gordon must have stayed up all
night grating that huge pile of cheese for our 5th pit-stop. Then
we split up: one team to B&M Gordon's to throw the pizza's in
the oven, and the other team to pick up some chips before
"not racing" over to meet the other team. Then we ate
the whole lot (well most of it) and went swimming. Ricky won the
pizza eating race.
No-one drowned in the making of this event.
