From the Pastor's Desk

An Angel wrote:

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.

To handle yourself, use your head, to handle others, use your heart.

Anger is only one letter short of danger.

Great minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.

God gives every bird it's food, but He does not throw it into it's nest.

He who loses money, loses much;
He who loses a friend, loses more;
He who loses faith, loses all.

Beautiful young people are acts of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art.

Learn from the mistakes of others. You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

The tongue weighs practically nothing, but so few people can hold it.

FAREWELL LEWIS, SUSIE and WILLIAM
As the Varley's head back to their missionary assignment in Bangladesh we want to pledge to them our support in every possible way. We so rapidly grew used to having them in Auckland over the past months. They have re-introduced us to the compelling call of missions in the 21st Century. They have given us their time and have introduced us to their beautiful baby boy William.

A magnificent offering was collected to assist and support them but don't let that be the end of it. We can pray daily and give anytime to their support.

WELCOME HOME DR and MRS BARTLE
Dr. Neville Bartle commences a new assignment which will see the Bartles Auckland based from late December. As Regional Literature Co-ordinators they will have responsibility covering much of the Asia Pacific region as well as secondment to several African nations. It will be wonderful having them home and exciting to see their new work develop.

WORK & WITNESS MISSIONS TEAM
For those who missed the presentation of the Work and Witness Mission trip to Tonga with Graham and Pauline Shepherd October 12th, it is not too late. The 11 minute video is available at the church as well as the brochures containing all of the information. The project requires men and women of any and all capabilities. While the team is going to finish constructing a building, team members are required to help with catering, team house keeping, driving and basic hands on help. These teams are the best way to enjoy overseas travel. Pray now about your involvement.

NAZARENE BIBLE COLLEGE 50TH ANNIVERSARY and COLLEGE RE-UNION
Bob and Maureen Gordon will be attending the celebrations in Brisbane, Australia, on 15th and 16th November. They will also have a chance to catch up with their family in Brisbane and Adelaide and enjoy some tourist time.

MEMBERSHIP FORUM
Several families have discussed formally joining the church. With timetables being so stressed and confused over the past weeks we have been unable to meet as a forum. Please make a time to meet individually with the pastor or as families over the next 2 weeks to discuss all that membership requires.

BOOK OF THE MONTH
The Breath of Prayer... Praying Scripturally by David Taft. David Taft is a New Zealander residing in California. Recently he visited Auckland and left the pastor with an autographed copy. You will find it refreshing and challenging. Please return the book as soon as you have finished it to avoid having your name added to the FBI list, (Forgotten Book Incident).
